In order for cleanfeed to work though they’d need to have mics set up to record into so may be ruled out on those grounds.

The standard version provides a single track. These two features alone give the edge to REAPERif you’re willing to pay. REAPER also supports MIDI files and instruments in contrast to Audacity. When you click you hear the tracks mixed together, that is, all the tracks at the same time. You can record into these tracks, or generate sound into them using the Generate menu. These new tracks stack up one above the other. And when you hit record, that’s you up and running with two USB mics at the same time. REAPER, an acronym for Rapid Environment for Audio Production, Engineering, and Recording, can simultaneously record multiple tracks from multiple inputs. After looking some more, and testing quite a few different programs, I found n-Track Studio which does the job very well. You can add new empty tracks using the edit menu: Click on the image to learn more. Hit the R on both tracks to arm each one to record. On track one and two, use the input drop-down menus titled Default Stereo Input to select both your USB mics. In short, you can use your Focusrite interface with Audacity, but you will only be able to use the first two. Their pro version does provide a separate audio track for each caller and they can hear each other. Leave the Preferences section and start a new multi-track session. As the Windows inbuilt audio driver only supports a maximum of two inputs and two outputs, regardless of the input/output count of your Focusrite interface, Audacity will only ever see the first two inputs and outputs of your device. Maybe time for a mixer upgrade to achieve what you’re looking for.Īlternatively, depending on your remote guests set up, you could try Cleanfeed. Your only option is to pan and record a left and right channel individually then drag the left and right side on to different multitrack tracks but this isn’t ideal when you have more than two inputs and you have three. This means you’d get a single output file send back to your DAW from your mixer. With a simple mixer you could create a mix minus that would send all the output back but for the callers to be able to hear each other you do need a mix minus for each caller so you don’t send them themselves back again.Īs far as I know neither of your mixers are capable of multi track recording. When I set it for 1 channel it just records off of the Onyx channel 1, even when I have multiple mics plugged in. It lists channels:1 (mono), 2 (stereo), 3, 416. With a traditional mix minus you send the entire output minus theirs back to the caller so they don’t hear themselves. When I open Audacity’s recording device drop down menu it lists built in input built in microphone and onyx 400f. Is there any sort of mixer and/or software that will allow me to record multiple tracks/channels simultaneously but keep them individual? Preferably something affordable because i am cheap. The callers hearing output would be a mix minus which is easy to set up using an aux channel. Set the volume level of your recording input, click in the Recording Meter, or click on the microphone icon and click Enable Silent Monitoring. That would be time consuming, I prefer to record the 3 audio sources simultaneously to save time, and because its an improv show, thats just how the ideas come.

The only solution i can think of is to record each thing individually, first the beats, then the keyboard melodies, then the vocals. You can use an audio interface device to capture multiple inputs simultaneously, but they will record on one track.

Instead, you select a recording device, then you must click to place your cursor in the location and track where you want to record. Unfortunately some multi-channel devices use multiple 2 channel drivers. As far as Audacity is concerned, if that device has 12 channels then Audacity will allow you to record all 12 channels onto separate tracks. Audacity is set to record 8 channels, but only the first two will ever pick up input/record in these settings. Audacity is only able to access one recording device at a time. I’m using a Delta 1010 and showing input/output from all channels with the Delta’s software. Can I record from two microphones (or two audio interfaces) at the same time Audacity can only record from one sound device at a time, but here are some solutions. When I record the 2 keyboards and vocals simultaneously its all on one track, for the most part it sounds ok, but sometimes when reviewing my recordings later, i wish i could re-record just the vocals and keep the keyboards, but of course I can't delete just the vocals cause they're all on one track. In the Recording Device box, look if there is an input meant for recording computer playback. Setting up the recording device in Audacity. I’m trying to record eight tracks simultaneously using Audacity Beta, but having no luck so far. So I basically have 3 audio inputs going to a cheap mixer going into my laptop, recording with audacity of course. I started doing a "podcast" where i play 2 keyboards and sing/talk simultaneously.
